A gorgeous evening

Yesterday we had to head up the coast for a late appointment with Little Miss R.  It was at Point Cartwright and by the time we had finished it was  after 6pm and almost dark.

Almost is the word.  I took these photos of the Mooloolaba River from La Balsa park before we left.

It was just so beautiful and I was wishing Master M was with us so we could've had a picnic dinner in the park.

Such a lovely evening to help lift my spirits.

Gorgeous Winter's Day

Winter around here certainly doesn't mean snow, blizzards and freezing rain.

We are blessed living in the sub-tropics with beautiful, sunny days that start off really chilly (been less than 10 degrees c overnight here) and warmish days.

I walked out the back about 7.30am and was greeted with this sky...

Not a cloud in sight and another beautiful day to enjoy.

Yesterday it got up to at least 24 degrees c and I was way too hot with even a cardigan on.  They call this winter?  No wonder I love this season so much, the temperature is just right for me.

I'm sure I've mentioned before that after being pregnant over Summer with Master M a few years ago (he was born in January), I really don't enjoy that season much anymore.  It's way too hot, muggy and icky.  The days may be beautiful, but when it's too hot to get out and enjoy it without being a ball of sweat and burnt to a crisp in a few minutes then I don't consider that too much fun.

Bring on more days like this I say.

Friends

Today a couple of things happened that reminded me just how special it is to have friends. My sister came to my salon for a couple of treatments and then we went out for lunch and coffee. I love being able to do that and to have someone special to share such an everyday moment with me. It's not something that I do much anymore (go out to lunch that is) and being able to do it with my sister who is a person with whom 'best friend' just doesn't seem to be able to convey our relationship. She is truly an extraordinary person with whom I am so honoured to know and to have as my friend, let alone as my sister that even having something as mundane as lunch at a cafe is something special.

Then there is another of my friends with whom I love dearly but do not catch up with often. I know a lot of that is my fault because I've come to realise that I'm truly AWfUl at keeping contact with people. I find that when I catch up with my 'true' friends, even though we may not have seen each other for awhile, when we do catch up it's like we've only seen each other the day before. I hope you all have lovely 'true' friends like this too.

I say all of that above because the gorgeous H who is dealing with an extremely stressful situation in her life at the moment, thought enough about me to gift me with the beautiful hair ties that you see in the above photo.

Thank you so much H and S for gifting me with special things today. Love you and thinking of all my other special friends with whom I don't contact that often either.

The simple things

It's amazing how we can come crashing back to earth and reality by spending just a few moment with children. We seem to spend so much time in our heads these days thinking about the future and what we can do to achieve our goals and the best for our families. Then all of a sudden, our kids give us something or show us something that's important and special in THEIR lives and it makes us realise that sometimes we only need to change our perspective in looking at things in our own lives.

Being given a dandelion by a child just because they thought it was pretty and they think that you're pretty has to be one of the loveliest moments that I've ever had.

Another dandelion and a special rock found in the yard is a gift to treasure.

Of course seeing the potential in everything is another great look at life. Just like putting holes and wool in cardboard to make a sewing card for a few moments entertainment can end up creating a good hour of entertainment by turning into a 'kite'. Gotta love a kids imagination!!!
